1. PLACE RACKS 6-8 FEET APART.
2. TEAMS STAND BEHIND THE RACKS ON OPPOSITE SIDES.
3. TO DETERMINE THE START OF GAME PLAY, ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM THROWS EYE TO EYE. THE PLAYERS LOOK INTO EACH OTHER'S EYES, COUNT OFF 1,2,3 AND THEN THROW THE BALL AT THE OPPOSITE RACK, WITHOUT BREAKING EYE CONTACT.
A. IF A PLAYER GETS THE BALL IN, THEIR TEAM STARTS THE GAME.
B. IF NEITHER PLAYER GETS THE BALL IN, THEIR TEAMMATES THEN PLAY EYE TO EYE.
C. IF BOTH PLAYERS GET THE BALL IN, THEIR TEAMMATES THEN PLAY EYE TO EYE.
D. EYE TO EYE PLAY CONTINUES ALTERNATING UNTIL ONE PLAYER GETS THE BALL IN.
4. THE STARTING TEAM GETS BOTH BALLS. PLAYERS TAKE TURNS THROWING THE BALL AT THE OPPOSITE RACK.
5. IF A BALL GOES INTO A CUP, THE OPPOSITE TEAM PULLS THE CUP FROM THE RACK AND DRINKS THE CONTENTS OF THE CUP. (NOTE: FOR MORE SANITARY PLAY, FILL THE CUPS IN THE RACKS WITH WATER AND KEEP YOUR OWN DRINK SEPARATE FROM THE GAME (IN YOUR HAND OR IN THE CUP HOLDER). WHEN A BALL GOES IN, TAKE A DRINK FROM YOUR OWN DRINK INSTEAD OF THE WATER CUP.)
6. PULLED CUPS CAN BE STACKED AND STORED IN THE CUP HOLDER AT THE BASE OF THE RACK.
7. IF BOTH PLAYERS GET THEIR BALLS IN DURING THEIR TURN, THE BALLS ARE RETURNED TO THEM AND THEY SHOOT AGAIN. THIS CAN HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE.
8. AFTER THE FIRST TEAM COMPLETE THEIR TURN, THE OPPOSITE SIDE TAKES THEIR TURN.
9. DURING THE COURSE OF THE GAME, EACH TEAM IS ALLOWED TO REQUEST 2 RE-RACKS. THIS MEANS THAT THE TEAM CAN REQUEST THAT THEIR CUPS BE RE-ORGANIZED FOR EASIER GAME PLAY.
A. COMMON RE-RACKS INCLUDE:
I. SMALLER TRIANGLE: 3 CUPS IN THE BACK, 2 IN THE MIDDLE, 1 IN THE FRONT
II. ZIPPER: 3 CUPS IN A STRAIGHT LINE, WITH TWO CUPS IN A STRAIGHT LINE NEXT TO THEM
III. DIAMOND: 4 CUPS IN A DIAMOND SHAPE
IV. STRAIGHT LINE: 3 CUPS IN A ROW
V. MINI TRIANGLE: 3 CUPS IN A TRIANGLE
B. RE-RACKS ARE SET UP SO THAT AT LEAST ONE CUP IS IN THE BACK ROW OF THE RACK
C. RE-RACKS MUST BE REQUESTED AND SET UP AT THE BEGINNING OF A TEAM'S TURN.
10. GAME PLAY CONTINUES UNTIL ONE TEAM HAS ELIMINATED ALL OF THE CUPS FROM THE OPPOSITE RACK.
11. AFTER ONE TEAM LANDS THE LAST CUP, THE OPPOSITE TEAM HAS A CHANCE FOR REBUTTAL. EACH PLAYER ON THE OPPOSITE TEAM SHOOTS UNTIL THEY MISS. IF THEY SINK ALL OF THEIR SHOTS, THE GAME GOES INTO OVERTIME AND EACH TEAM SETS UP A NEW SMALL TRIANGLE (3,2,1 CUPS). THE TEAM THAT SANK THE LAST CUP FIRST STARTS OFF THE OVERTIME ROUND. NO REBUTTAL IS GRANTED IF THE LAST CUP IS HIT BY BOTH PLAYERS.
